Batterer's Education Program (BEP)

The Fourth Judicial District (Audubon, Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery,
Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby counties) is served by the Duluth Model Batterer's
Educational classes. These are facilitated by staff in four locations: Council
Bluffs, Atlantic, Clarinda and Red Oak.

The objectives of the BEP are to protect and keep victims safe; to reduce physical, emotional and psychological abuse; to hold batterers accountable and provide opportunity to change; and to support a community response to end domestic violence.

The program focuses on learning alternatives for coercive, dominating, and violent behaviors. Separate classes are offered for men and women. While voluntary participation is encouraged, court ordered or probation contingent attendance is required for individuals convicted of domestic violence.

Program requirements:
Intake session followed by weekly attendance in class for 24 weeks. Fees associated with the program are the client's responsibility. Call 888-486-9599 for more information.
