Behavioral Health Intervention Services

Here at Southwest Iowa Families, we are dedicated to enhancing the well-being of children through our specialized home service interventions. Our approach focuses on improving psychological, behavioral, emotional, and cognitive factors that impact a child's functioning. While we don't aim to replace traditional therapy, we believe that our skill development sessions can significantly complement those services. We provide children with essential tools for conflict resolution, problem-solving, emotional regulation, anger management, and social and communication skills, enabling them to thrive in their daily lives.

Parent Child Interaction Therapy

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based treatment program designed for children aged 2 to 7 years and their caregivers. This therapy uses training, modeling, and live coaching to help parents effectively manage and improve their child's behavior.

During PCIT sessions, the therapist observes the parent and child interaction from behind a one-way mirror. Using a wireless earphone, the therapist provides real-time guidance to the parent, teaching specific strategies to positively engage with and manage their child's behavior.
